Old sketchbook pages and drawing fungi

Getting inspiration from old sketchbooks and drawing lots of mushrooms.
Old sketchbook pages and drawing fungi

Happy Sunday!

I got the itch this week to peek at one of my older sketchbooks. I like to do this occasionally to remind myself of how much my work has developed over time.

Here are a few pages from 2019. I was very focused on improving my drawing technique, so most of these pages are filled with studies.

While I expected to cringe at everything, I was surprised to find some decent work! Some of the pages had me saying, “Wait…I drew this? I don’t think I could draw this now!”

It helped me see just how far I’ve drifted from prioritizing growth and improvement. When I sit down to create now, I’m mainly thinking about creating something finished. Creating polished work is important, but if I’m not doing any deliberate practice with a focus on improving my skills, my finished work will start to fall flat.

Moving forward, I’m going to incorporate more deliberate practice into my week so I can keep my skills sharp!

Line Drawings of Mushrooms

This week I felt like drawing some mushrooms. I don’t really like mushrooms and they kind of creep me out, but I think it’s interesting how different they all are from one another.

I went a little crazy and drew 16 different mushrooms.

As always, I had a lot of fun with the line work. I’ll be creating some products out of these for my shop, which I’ll share with you next week!

For now, you can browse my existing products below.

That’s all I have for you. Have a great week!
