I’m back with some exciting updates!

Weekly Newsletter #25
I’m back with some exciting updates!

It’s been a couple of weeks since we last chatted. I was away in Colorado for a week on a ski trip. It was fun and exhausting and a great experience, but I’m glad to be back home now. I’m always excited to go somewhere new, but quickly miss my cozy, familiar space at home.

This is going to be a bit of a longer newsletter as I have a lot of exciting updates to share!

Goal Update

In the last newsletter, I shared my open goals with you all. The biggest one I’m working towards achieving is to draw for 1000 hours over the next year.

I made some progress towards my goals this week, though not a ton. I’m always a little slow to get back into things after traveling, and lately I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself when it comes to my art.

That’s the main reason I set this goal. I want to focus on creating without all of the self-judgment and pressure that tends to come along with it. The goal is so huge that the only way for me to achieve it is to shut my brain off and just create.

I let the pressure get the best of me this week and only drew for a few hours. Next week, I’m going to start my days with some basic exercises that will help me ease into drawing and release a lot of that pressure. I’ll be doing really simple things like drawing lines and shapes and slowly working my way towards more complex drawings.

My big takeaway from this week is that when I feel that pressure to perfect things, I should just let myself be messy.

Site Updates

I also wanted to share some changes to how I’ll be using this website! I’ve been loving creating and sharing my work here. After thinking about it for a while, I decided that I want this site to serve as a record of all the progress I make over time, as well as a place for others to reference and learn.

I know some of you are here just to keep up with what I’m doing, which I love. However, many of you are on the same creative path that I’m on. You’re learning and working towards mastering your craft, and potentially wanting to pursue it full time.

To support those of you on the same path, I’ll be uploading every asset that’s generated from my art to this website - sketches, process videos, learnings, and my art files with all of my layers. I’ll even be sharing full resolution images of my artwork that you’re free to download and use as you wish. You can use them as phone or desktop backgrounds or create your own prints!

I’ll be sharing the assets of one piece to all of you subscribed to this newsletter each week.

In addition, I’ve created a paid membership where I’ll be sharing my entire library of personal work as it’s created. I’ll be sharing all files and assets related to this work, and I invite you to use it however you like! Use it for education, inspiration, decorating your personal space, or even in your own projects. Consider it to be a personal license to my work. If it’s uploaded here, it’s fair game to use.

The all access membership will be $29/month or $299/year. Lots of art will be coming soon, and every week I’ll let you know what’s new. Whenever you feel the nudge to upgrade, you can do so by going to your account settings in the upper right hand corner of the site.

I’ll also be uploading the assets of each individual piece to my online store, so if you ever want to purchase one without a subscription, you can do that as well.

I hope that opening up my art like this can help a ton of you as you work towards your own creative pursuits! If you have any questions about these changes, feel free to respond to this email or drop a comment below.

New Art

With that said, here is some of the art I created this week!

You can find the assets for both of these pieces below. The first one is free for all newsletter subscribers!

Thank you for reading this far! I’ll have another update and more art for you next week.

Talk to you soon,

Rachel
